Why Great Websites Are Built Around Business Goals
A website is not a brochure. It is the part of the business that has to work while nobody is watching.
A website is a working part of the business
Most sites are built as a description of a company. The better ones are built as a decision-making tool for the customer: what this is, who it is for, what it costs, what happens next. If a page cannot answer those four things, redesigning it will not help.
Start from the outcome
Before layout or colour, decide what one action matters most on each page — book, call, request a quote, subscribe. Everything on the page then either supports that action or gets removed.
Clarity beats cleverness
Plain headlines, honest service explanations and visible contact details outperform abstract language almost every time. Customers are comparing options quickly, and confusion reads as risk.
Measure the right thing
Traffic is a vanity metric on its own. Track the actions that indicate intent — calls, forms, bookings — and use them to decide what to change next.
